View Full Version : Could we map theatres?

I had a request from a friend of a friend to let her know what theatres are on the north side. They've just moved to the area and would like to attend some shows. I think I can give her a decent listing since we live on the north side (though I think she's more interested in Hamilton Cty.) but it got me wondering if there might be a way to add mapping technology to this site. I know there are sites where you can stick little flags or pushpins into your location, but I don't know if it would accept closeup views like just the central Indiana regions. Any ideas?

That's a good idea Debby!

Is anyone familiar with frappr.com ? Could that site make this work? I've only used it for large scale, across the continent stuff.

I will try it when I get home tonight (damn that Anthem firewall) LOL

Thanks for the site Liz!

Best I can do is put in city and state- it doesn't let you put in specific addresses...

I wonder if Google Earth has any kind of public sharing??

See if that works. I dunno.

I know I have seen something before, I just have to remember where.

Here is a site that uses Google Maps to find the cheapest gas, based on Zip Code. The idea is the same.

Cool uses for Google Maps:

Google allows you to download the API interface for their Google Maps, then you just customize it to fit your needs.

I added CCP to the map at Frappr - it seems to "stick". There is a link to "add this map to your site"

Frappr is the site I was thinking of before. Thanks, Liz, for taking that bull by the horns! Google maps is a favorite of mine, too, if we could get it to work.

An interactive map would be nice so theatres could add themselves, but a fixed map could work, too. I hadn't thought of that. Now I've got a twitchy Photoshop finger but I'm juggling about five balls right now. Aha! A project to procrastinate with!

Soooo... is this a conspiracy?

A map of theaters and you haven't brought me in on it. :D

Great idea!
It would really be useful to people who don't know the area well.
