View Full Version : Did ANYONE get the newsletter I just sent out?
I tried to send a newsletter out to the Indiana Auditions members... but I think the email server with my host stopped me after a few hundred went out.

Me neither.
I didn't get mine either.
1,100 of them went out... and I started getting the following message fairly early in.
I have a feeling my server stopped me. Now the problem is... how many went out... who got them and who didnt.
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Looks like it started "kicking" around
bethelmystro@aol.com
Which means it only got out maybe 100 or so.

Joe - some mailing lists have a cap on how many you can send per hour - which is what appears happened to you.
IndyanaTekkie
11-06-2006, 02:26 PM
Yeah I know like with Hotmail, I'm only allowed to send out 100 a day.
I'm thinking... that's what happened.
Now can my provider take that "cap" off for me so I can get this thing out every month?

Doubt it. Hotmail said they would for me IF I subscribed to a higher package. Uhm No.
This is a local service provider and I pay them for the site... so I think they would let me.
I just sent out another 100 and this time none of them kicked. If I can only do 100 per hour, that puts me in a pickle. I like you all but I don't have 11 hours set aside.

Joe, take a look at PHPList. It's available to install in your Control Panel (Fantastico). Here is something on the VBulletin forums about it:
http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=194043
That MIGHT get you around the limit. Not positive though. You may have to contact Blair though to get your "limit" raised.

Good idea Tom. I installed PHPlist for OTP's mailing list and I'm just now getting it set up. Haven't come across anything indicating that there's a cap. There's a ton of help pages and info on how to set it up and you can even import a CSV file.

OK, heres a good one. Does anyone know how golf got its name? In front of the original golf course, there was a sign that said, "Gentleman Only... Ladies Forbidden. Thus, the word GOLF was created.
I'm filled with useless facts like that!

Mine was timestamped 8:45pm and I noticed it in my inbox about 10:30.
I notice you said 76 people had joined. I assume that means registered on the website? Are there any actual dues for IA? If so, point me to where to pay them. If not, who is underwriting this site?

JoeBoling: There are no mandatory "dues" for using IA, however if you'd like to donate to help with Joe U's costs for running the site, there is a voluntary "Donations" link in the bottom-right-hand corner of the main page which would be cheerfully accepted.

I am proud that you would even consider paying "dues" for Indiana Auditions but the idea was to always maintain a free venue for you to use! With that being said, I pay for the montly cost of the site and all the custom software upgrades I utilize and donations are always gladly accepted! :D
Use and enjoy.

In Seattle the equivalent site is run by Theatre Puget Sound; in order to post, you have to be a member, at $50/year. I think that the general public can put reviews up on SeattlePerforms.com, which is also run by TPS, but general conversations like I see here are for members only.
Is IA a 501c(3) organization?

Stop trying to give him ideas you crazy man!
I have been toying around with 501c3, but it seems like a nightmare.
I need to wither doit or not... I have been thinking about it for a year or so. Problem is... I really need a few people who are dedicated who can help me out if I go 501c3 to keep everything straight and I'm not sure that I have the dedication.
I have a lot of good intention... but dedication?
