KidsPlay, Inc. Children’s Theatre Presents “All’s Fair” Tribute to Small Towns
GREENFIELD, IN—KidsPlay, Inc. children’s theatre will present Pat Cook’s “All’s Fair” at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts at 122 West Main Street in Greenfield April 25th, 26th, and 27th.
The play is a series of vignettes about small town life that take place during a county fair. We have characters who are running for Mayor: the incumbent candidate, Mayor Ceasar Clatterhand, and his opponent--and the school lunch lady—also happens to be his sister. The two of them have been debating since—well, since they could talk. Lula Morris and Doris Jane Shuntlemeyer are in a death match for who will win this year’s jelly judging competition, while Jane’s son Blue tries to talk his pig Chauncey into blue-ribbon form for the hog judging. Meanwhile, the drama teacher is busily coaching his student Tommy through Shakespeare without the distraction of his girlfriend Gloria. Margaret June Muncie hopes to snag Cyrus Holcomb as her new husband while town gossips--Audrey Hinkle and Beryl Lundarrow talk about it all. Throw in Gil Fish the Emcee, Ortho Glupp as a jelly judge, and Skeeter Blatch as a spoon player and you’ve got 'small town wacky' in “All’s Fair”!
You can see these young performers (many of whom appeared last November in KidsPlay's "Altar Egos") April 25th, 26th and 27th at the Ricks Centre for the Arts at 122 West Main in Greenfield. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7 p.m. and the Sunday matinee is at 2 p.m. Adult tickets are $5; tickets for children 3-14 are $4.
