“Prelude to a Kiss” tells the story of a young couple who meet, fall head over heels in love, then marry. At their wedding reception, an elderly man wanders into the party and watches the celebrants. He asks if he may kiss the bride, and from that kiss, nothing is the same. This is a wonderfully romantic & nostalgic piece that explores what it really means to love someone in spite of circumstances or outward appearances. There are challenging & rewarding roles for the three principal actors - Rita, Peter, & the Old Man.
There is a sizable cast (12+)- the male & female leads stage ages are from late 20s – early 30s. The old man’s age is 70s to 80s. Major supporting characters include the bride’s parents, Dr. & Mrs. Boyle -50s & Aunt Dorothy & Uncle Fred -50s. Cameo roles include Tom the bartender 30s-50s; the Minister 30s – 60s; Leah, the Old Man’s daughter –late 40s -50s; and the Jamaican Waiter. Non-speaking roles include party guests, bar regulars, etc. Stage crew members are needed.
