I saw this show today at 4:30. It was a sold out crowd. I learned things I never knew about Edgar Alan Poe. I was engaged the entire time. Both Russ and Amy did an amazing job on stage. They did change of time by bringing lights up and off several times so when it was over no one clapped until they came out to bow, I assume because they thought there might be more. One more chance to see this on Sunday .
Saturday 29 August: Nevermore, Twilight Productions at TOTS (stage 2) (IFF)
You may recall that we saw this one the previous Sunday. In the interim, we corresponded with Amy Pettinella about the ending - did the pill-swallowing writer come out on our side, or did she cross over (see the commentary on Crossing the Bridge)? Amy detailed the clues that she thought she was leaving for the viewer, but we decided to see it again to determine whether we had missed something or whether the writing had a problem.
A little of each. The first two or three lines of the card that the Raven reads in the epilogue tell us that she awoke, but then several lines in that past tense leave one (me) feeling like she's looking back on her life, so one isn't sure which side of the bridge she awoke on. If those latter lines were in the present tense, it would be less ambiguous (but maybe Amy wants it to be ambiguous).
In any event, we are glad to have seen it again.
