Auditions for "1940's Radio Hour"
Myers Dinner Theatre
Hillsboro, Indiana
September 27

Myers Dinner Theatre is proud to announce auditions for its Christmas show, "1940's Radio Hour" on Monday, September 27 at 6:30 in the dinner theatre. Director Michael Moyer is looking for a cast of at least four women and five men of varying ages. All roles sing.

Written by Walton Jones and filled with the timeless music of the 1940's, "Radio Hour" takes place on the Christmas Eve 1942 broadcast of the Manhattan Variety Cavalcade. The Cavalcade is a group of earnest performers who sing songs of the time, Christmas songs, read advertisements and tell stories and jokes during their time together on the air, not knowing that this may be the last broadcast for a couple of their members. Snappy dialogue, live sound effects and the ever-flashing applause sign add even more fun to the evening. Songs include "I've Got a Gal in Kalamazoo," "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy," "I'll Be Seeing You," "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Strike Up the Band."

The show runs from November 12 through December 23. There won't be shows on all of those dates, but there could be quite a few performances. The only Saturday matinee we currently have scheduled is November 13 and possibly December 18. We have Sunday matinees on November 14, 21 and 28 and December 5, 12 and 19. We also have Wednesday matinees on November 17 and December 1, 8, 15 and 22. All of the weekends have Friday and Saturday nights scheduled. There is no show on Thanksgiving Day. All performers will be paid for performing. Double casting is a possibility for actors who are not available for all matinees.

Prepare an audition song of not more than 32 bars. A period piece from the 1930's or 40's is strongly suggested. If possible, please bring your own accompaniment CD. Unaccompanied auditions are strongly discouraged. Readings will be from the script.

Auditions will be held in the dinner theatre at 108 Water Street, Hillsboro, IN. For any questions, please contact Michael at 765-798-4902, ext.7, or at mikesing@aol.com.
