Auditions for Weathervane Playhouse's Holiday Production FORVER PLAID: PLAID TIDINGS

Weathervane Playhouse, Newark’s professional theatre company, will hold auditions for “Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings.” Auditions will be held Saturday, November 20th and Sunday, November 21st at Weathervane Playhouse, 100 Price Rd. Newark, Ohio.

Please prepare one 16-bar ballad, and one 16-bar up-tempo in the style of the show you are auditioning for as well as a short monologue. Bring appropriate sheet music as an accompanist will be provided.

Audition Dates and Times: Saturday, November 20th 10:00 am-2:00 pm (DANCE CALL: 2:00 pm-3:00 pm*)
Sunday, November 21st 2:00 pm -6:00 pm (DANCE CALL: 6:00 pm-7:00 pm*)
CALLBACKS: 7:00 pm-9:00 pm Following Dance Call Sunday Evening
Auditions will be held at Weathervane Playhouse, 100 Price Road, Newark, Ohio 43055.

Book by, Stuart Ross, Original FOREVER PLAID Vocal and Musical Arrangment by James Raitt, Vocal and Muscial Arrangement by, James Raitt, Brad Ellis, Raymond Berg, David Snyder, Musical Continuity and Supervision by David Snyder.

Weathervane is seeking out four singing men to create The Plaids, a doo-wop group sent from up above down to Earth on a secret holiday mission. This comedic sequel to “Forever Plaid” features holiday favorites as well as classics, such as “Mambo Italiano” and “Fever.”

“Forever Plaid: Plaid Tidings” rehearses evenings and weekends November 28-December 15 with performances December 16-19. Actors will receive a performance stipend.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
Francis (Second Tenor-Lyric Baritone): The leader of Group One. He has the most confidence, yet must be as humble as they come.
Sparky (Baritone): The Clown. He is always looking for a way to crack jokes. This actor must have impeccable comedic timing, and love to perform. Eventually, this class clown is shown to have a heart.
Jinx (Tenor): The shy one. Terrified and scattered. Journeys from timid to confident as the show progresses.
Smudge (Bass): The worrier. The awkward one. He wears glasses until the end when he reveals his sex appeal, i.e. Clark Kent/Superman.

Yes, it is Indiana Auditions, but we Buckeyes and Hoosiers have to work together!

There is an great amount of talent in Indiana, and we figure why not try to unearth it and bring some people out this way! Plus, we're only 4 hours from Indianapolis so people can come and check out what we do at Weathervane Playhouse.

We are Ohio's longest running professional summer stock theatre company, in the process of expanding to year round programming.
