    2011 local Indy Fringe shows?

So...I have stopped blogging for a while (for a number of reasons, which I am not going to discuss) but I am still going to shows for my own enjoyment and I am curious:

Who from around Indy has a show coming up in the 2011 Indy Fringe Festival?

Yes, yes, I know the official program will eventually be posted on www.indyfringe.org, but it is not there yet and I am curious now.

And yes, yes, I know that many people have started talking about their Fringe shows on Facebook but a) I am not FB friends with EVERYONE (and don't necessarily want to be) and b) who knows if we will all have moved to some other social network in a month and c) I am curious about the Indy Fringe now.

So...if you've got a moment, please tell me about your Indy Fringe show as soon as possible here on IA.

Thanks, Jim! Are you stage managing it or producing it or... or "just" a fan of Tristan's work? (I'm just curious - I appreciate your taking the time to post the info for whatever reason!)

I don't think I know Jascha Is but I definitely know I like Ericka and Tristan's work. Break a leg, everyone involved with "flyover"!

Who else has a show in the upcoming 2011 Indy Fringe Festival?

    Hope,
Carrie (Juliet from Ophelia's Revenge) and I (Zombies) as well as Zack Joyce (John the Baptist from Teen Jesus) are all in a show called How to Kill written by the BPP's Gabe Gloden. The show is about a socially awkward man who kills people in his mind to overcome his social anxieties. You can like us on facebook if it sounds interesting. http://www.facebook.com/HowToKill

Also Ben Asaykwee has written a bowling pin musical called "Strike!" featuring several past Fringe performers (I can't remember them all, but I know Maria Meschi, Molly Kraus, and Linda Heiden are in it). Ben will also be performing a show called "Satan Live". I'm sure somebody will post a reply telling you more about their shows though. Sorry to hear you won't be reviewing, but glad you still plan on seeing shows.

"Flyover," a serio-comic play by Tristan Ross (the big guy with long hair and the heartiest, most infectious laugh imaginable) is playing at the Fringe on TOTS' second stage. It's about three 20-somethings who are dissatisfied with the direction their lives have taken. Oh, and there's quite a bit of Shakespeare - particularly Hamlet - thrown in, as well. It stars Tristan, Jascha (a local musician and sometime actor last seen in "The Laramie Project"), and myself. Like us on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php...79446395449134

    Wednesday, August 24, 7:30 p.m.

    More! More! (please)

Thanks, Ryan and Ericka! I appreciate your writing about these shows here as well as on Facebook. I made the decision a few years ago to not "like" any shows or theatres or performers or products on Facebook but I know a lot of people do enjoy "liking" their favorite things so I admire you for giving them the chance.

ALL of these 2011 Indy Fringe Festival shows sound interesting so far! Who else has a show in the Fringe this year?

To elaborate on what Ryan said, "Strike!" has been a blast to rehearse so far. It stars 10 women as the pins, and it's about how they respond to an event that turns their (Very Small) world upside down. I think anyone who regularly talks with women (and who doesn't?) will likely see elements of the people they know in many of these characters. The music alone will be worth the price of admission; 10 female voices layered in 5-part pop harmonies sounds pretty powerful and we're still learning the music so I imagine by showtime it will be quite spectacular.

We're performing on the Phoenix Mainstage and more info can be found on Q Artistry's website for anyone who's curious.

    Fringe 2011

Beer Can Raft by Lou Harry will be premiering at Indy Fringe 2011.

    Karen Irwin directs.

"like" it at and follow the develops of the show--and the raft itself--at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Lou-H...76823705710498

"It all comes out okay. No sharks. No shipwreck. No horrible storm that washes one of us overboard. So you don’t have to worry about that. Nobody starves. Food doesn’t have to be rationed. We don’t have to consider the ethical implications of cannibalism—you know, like, is it better for the three of us to die or for two of us to survive if to do so we have to eat the other one. None of that."

What's Beer Can Raft about? Well, remember a time you saw someone you used to know and he or she stunned you? Or remember a time when fate and randomness seemed to be the same thing? Or remember when you and your friends woke up in the middle of the ocean on a beer can raft?

It's kind of like that. And it floats.

Hah! Thanks very much, everyone, for telling me about your shows! They all intrigue me!

I know there are others. Who else is working on something for the 2011 Indy Fringe Festival? It is less than a month away!
