I am pleased to announce the next round of theatrical fencing classes, beginning in February!
During this 10-week course, those new to theatrical fencing will learn basic footwork, cuts, thrusts and parries using the 16th century rapier. By the end of the course, participants will be familiar with basic techniques of theatrical swordplay which they will utilize in a choreographed duel.
Those who have a background with theatrical fencing will develop more advanced bladework and footwork techniques, begin to work on scenes and original choreography, and begin to learn the use of the parrying dagger. The focus of the course, as always, will be safety in performance, and will include discussions on the history of swordplay.
In the interests of safety, this class will be limited to 10 participants. No experience is necessary, and all weaponry will be provided.
