    In memory of......

Agnes Mangus - passed away at the age of 96. Visitation Monday, June 11, at Feeney and Hornak, 1307 Shadeland. Mass at St Philip Neri, 10:00 Tuesday, June 12. Memorial contributions to St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Multiple Award winning actress. If you saw her performance in "Social Security" at Epilogue in 2000 you saw comic acting at its best. She rec'd the Encore that year as well as Gene and I took home the BestProduction, Comedy, for "Social Security. We had to add three more performances - almost all by word of mouth. She acted, directed, worked on sets, whatever was needed. She and Marge Johnson were in two separate productions of St. Susan. Marge during her 90th year of life. I'll let others add to this.

Thanks, Jackie, for starting this post. I don't think enough praise and admiration can possibly be heaped on this dynamic woman. When someone of her magnitude leaves the earth, the beautiful memories fill our hearts and minds. God bless her.

I mentioned this at the Encore meeting last night. More than one had a "remember when" story. Norris Wright and Marsha Grant put together a montage of her pictures, etc. including a beautiful portrait of Agnes from "Social Security". One of my bittersweet memories was of Agnes giving us "Catholic" lessons for "Octette Bridge Club" . It was mentioned at the Indiana Theatre League competitions how close the Irish Catholic sisters were.

I met Anges back in the late 70's. Although I believe we only worked together once on some forgotton play Civic, we remained friends . I found Anges was friends with my next door neighbor, so she was at Curt's and my Open House last year. There were many people she had not seen years. She was without a doubt the center of attendition. She was a great actress who ranked up there with the incredible Margaret Roberts, the always comic Blaine Jarret and the versatile Mary Potts. She will be missed

I did not have the pleasure of knowing Agnes well, but our paths crossed many times over the years. I always marveled at the talent and energy of this great lady. I have no doubt that she is already starting a new theater in Paradise. We'll not see anyone like her again. The previously posted reply has me thinking; isn't it about time that we set up something like a Hall of Fame or Legends of Indianapolis Theatre memorial somewhere? As Stephen points out: Agnes, Margaret, Blaine, and Mary certainly could be among the first elected to this. Any thoughts on how we might honor these wonderful people?

I am so sorry. I just heard about this. I would have loved to have been there. Having been in each performance of "Social Security" with her, I can tell you it was an honor to not only be on stage with her, but also to simply have known her. She had a wonderful full life and added joy to all who came in contact with her. I regret losing touch with her in her final years. I am sure she is taking charge of all the theatre events in heaven with, not only those already mentioned , but Anne Stein, as well, who was also a joy in "Social Security." She brought an energy to the stage and to Epilogue Players, which will be hard to replace. Considering all of the trips she made to the Holy Land, I'm sure the Virgin Mary is getting an earfull about now. I hope she puts in a good word for all of us.
