Glad to hear you're interested. Not only is it a good skill to have on your resume, but it's also a terrific way to work on some acting chops. Fencing, even the choreographed kind that I teach, sharpens your focus, strengthens and tones the muscles, improves balance and eye/hand coordination, and gives you another tool in your "physical storytelling" toolkit. It's a wonderful physical metaphor for acting.

Let me know if your schedule lets up. I'm open to doing private/semi-private lessons as well.

Just a note to those considering this: I've been working with Eric for a number of weeks now and can verify that he is a good teacher, fun to work with, and knows his stuff. I would recommend his class to anyone that is interested in this aspect of theater.

Disclaimer: Schedule permitting, I may be assisting Eric with this class. However, I would be an unpaid volunteer and he is definitely not paying me to say these nice things about him! (Although I wouldn't have turned it down... ;D

This sounds like avery fun class, but would we have to rent equipment or would that be included in the fee?

I provide all equipment. The only thing you may want to purchase would be a glove, which I will discuss in the first class. Doesn't need to be a fencing glove...a leather work glove or batting glove would be fine.

    Re: Theatrical Fencing Classes Beginning

I'm always up for doing private/semi-private lessons. My base rate is $25/hour for private, $40/hour for semi-private. We would need to arrange a space - there are a few options. First, you could come to Noblesville and we can work in my basement. Second, for my base rate I'm willing to travel up to 20 miles to you, providing you have adequate space, or are willing to provide a space (anything over 20 miles requires some mileage compensation).

I would also have a couple of questions for you:
1 - What is your experience with theatrical fencing?
2 - What are you looking to accomplish in 2-3 lessons?

Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you.

    Thanks,
    Eric
