Help me to become an idol!

Dear friends,

I have a dream ... and it involves your votes.

Somehow, I was selected to participate in a contest sponsored by the Hendricks County Flyer , a local newspaper, called "Flyer Idol." Think "American Idol" except it's about writing columns.

Each week, the contestant with the least number of votes will be extinguished from the competition. The winner receives a year-long contract to write columns for the Flyer.

I am asking you to vote for me. I am competitive, yes, but it's not so much about the winning.

It's just that ... I CAN'T BE THE FIRST ONE VOTED OFF!

I have a certain reputation to uphold.

If you could just see your way clear to go online to www.flyergroup.com and scroll down to the Flyer Idol logo and click on the blue bar above it, that will take you to an online voting site.

Please vote for me. This first week, they are removing the bottom three vote-getters from the competition.

Hrm... I found the link and I read your column, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but now I can't figure out how to vote. That particular piece of the website is not exactly efficiently designed...

Balor - you have to click on the blue bar, almost on top of the text within the blue bar, located above the Flyer Idol logo. You're right - very difficult to figure it out.

Gus I voted for you - Puppets are wierd - ;D; Clever column.

Why do a couple of the participant's names show up on all the pages? Doesn't seem fair.

My son is a huuuuge Wiggle fan. I like that they are real people and have often wondered why he has to look to Australian's for human enertainment.

From what I've read of the Hendricks County Flyer (which my parents still get, though I don't believe they ever asked for it), you'll be doing better than the majority of their writers if you can spell.

Hey, I've got an idea! They could do the same thing to hire a new cartoonist. All you have to do is draw a picture of a famous religious icon . . .
