    Takeout boxes

This is probably going get put on that worthless thread list! But I know you all have lots of contacts around the Indianapolis area so here goes...

I am trying to get a good deal on 100 white takeout boxes (the kind with handles from Oriental restuarants). Hopefully someone knows a restaurant who would sell them at the wholesale cost or maybe even donate them.

They'll be used for Girl Scouts from Stony Creek Elementary in Noblesville to make cookie money collection boxes. We'll be talking to the girls about goal setting and basic money skills like making change. I thought the boxes would be a great and useful craft to go along with the whole issue.

Thanks for any info or contacts you can provide!

    Re: Takeout boxes

Liz, what a coincidence! That is one of the few places I contacted online for costs! They're supposed to be getting back to me with shipping and handling costs... but it looks like about $15 just for shipping (plus the $11 for the boxes).

Unfortunately, I only have a $50 budget. Luckily the G.S. Council will provide the snacks & a give away prize for a raffle. But I have to get all the drinks, patches, craft supplies (like the boxes) out of the $50 unless I can get them donated. Already have a donation for the cups & napkins. But $25+ for the take-out boxes would blow the budget!

    ah well... I'll keep searching!

Did you try calling some of the chinese restaurants in the Noblesville area? I know there's one over by the Marsh on 32 (next to the Blockbuster). Some of the others are the buffet restaurants, so I don't know if they use those types of containers. Would Sam's Club sell something like that?

Thanks Eric! I didn't think about the one on the west side of town & I think there's still one downtown too.

The buffet across from Burger King already said no.... But I'll check the others!

Oriental grocery stores usually sell those. At least the ones I saw in Chinatown ( Chicago)

Good luck! Sounds like a fun thing to do.

it's a bit far, but there is an Asian Grocery store on E. 21st Street just west of Post Road...it's been there for a long time...I think it's called Kim's Oriental Market

Just heard back from that on-line company... $19 for shipping and handling. OUCH!

I'll have to check out those grocery stores soon! I'm hoping to check out the other restaurants in Noblesville tomorrow.

You might try Cash and Carry Paper Co. at 914 E. New York Street..................phone number: 632-2651

    Also:
    Schnaible Service & Supply at 2402 N Shadeland...........phone number: 352-0333

I do props for theaters and I have bought items from both of these places.

You could also go to several different food establishements and get as many boxes as each is willing to donate until you have the number that you need.
