    Question One or the Other...

I have a bit of a dilemma. See, I've seen a few exceptional shows over these last few weekends I've had no rehearsals during. Two are still running at this time...The Pillowman at Phoenix and The Spitfire Grill at Buck Creek.

Both are simply excellent shows. Powerful and developed characters, intriguing stories, dynamic directing and I would be glad to be able to see either (but preferably both) again.

Here's the problem, though...my friend Dane really only has one day, tomorrow, to see a show before we're both going to be neck deep in Fiddler on the Roof. Pillowman closes next weekend, and Spitfire runs the same days as we're running Fiddler, so this is his only chance to see either show, but not both. I told him that I'd see either with him, but the question is, which one?

Seeing as I'd been to both, he asked which we should go to, and I really didn't have an answer. I mean, how do you choose between two shows that you feel are equal? Alright, so maybe they're not exactly 'equal' seeing as one's a musical and the other's a straight show, and one's cheering and uplifting while the other will send shivers down your spine, but you know what I mean. They're both quality shows that I don't think anyone in this theatre community should miss if at all possible.

So, if anyone has any ideas better then flipping a coin on how to decide, I'm all ears. Dane's open to seeing either one, they'll cost us the same $15 at either place, and I for the life of me can't pick one over the other.

Well this should be a NO brainer for Dane!! SPITFIRE GRILL!!!

He has only listened to me for over a month going on about the show given that I am the Sound Designer for the show and YOUR BOSS, DANE!

Now no pressure here...*clears throat*... I seem to recall a phrase that Donald Trump uses weekly... As well as Joe will help me kick your butt!

We as well had a standing ovation on opening night with a sold out theater.

    So Dane, choose WISELY... *WINK*

See ya both tomorrow at 2pm SHARP!

    Don

I went to see SPITFIRE GRILL tonight with Joe's wife (keep your mind outta the gutter) and we were both talking about PILLOWMAN. I told her the idea of a dark comedy intrigued me, though beyond that I really know nothing about the show.

I told her that I was tempted to go see PILLOWMAN tonight as well (I thought it closed this weekend? ) but in the end, I'm glad I went to see SPITFIRE GRILL. It's always good to leave a theatre having seen an uplifting story, with a smile on your face.

    That's my $.02.

    Pillowman

The Sunday June 4th performance of Pillowman has been cancelled. That shopuld make for a much easier decision.

For the rest . . . it has 4 more performances next weekend.

Called and made the reservations just a little while ago. Do you happen to know how the house is looking for today, Scott? I don't wanna totally miss out because I didn't call soon enough.
