I have a bit of a dilemma. See, I've seen a few exceptional shows over these last few weekends I've had no rehearsals during. Two are still running at this time...The Pillowman at Phoenix and The Spitfire Grill at Buck Creek.
Both are simply excellent shows. Powerful and developed characters, intriguing stories, dynamic directing and I would be glad to be able to see either (but preferably both) again.
Here's the problem, though...my friend Dane really only has one day, tomorrow, to see a show before we're both going to be neck deep in Fiddler on the Roof. Pillowman closes next weekend, and Spitfire runs the same days as we're running Fiddler, so this is his only chance to see either show, but not both. I told him that I'd see either with him, but the question is, which one?
Seeing as I'd been to both, he asked which we should go to, and I really didn't have an answer. I mean, how do you choose between two shows that you feel are equal? Alright, so maybe they're not exactly 'equal' seeing as one's a musical and the other's a straight show, and one's cheering and uplifting while the other will send shivers down your spine, but you know what I mean. They're both quality shows that I don't think anyone in this theatre community should miss if at all possible.
So, if anyone has any ideas better then flipping a coin on how to decide, I'm all ears. Dane's open to seeing either one, they'll cost us the same $15 at either place, and I for the life of me can't pick one over the other.
