? More information would seem to be in order. Is this a casting call for a film? For some event that's going on in conjunction with the festival?

As promised, here is the info that I received today about the casting call.

    __________________________________________________ _______________
Hello and thank you for your interest in this film project. I am enthused by the show of interest by everyone thus far. The flood of e-mails has been exciting!

    Now, down to business.

First off, apologies are in order for the lack of a timely response to your inquiries. There have been some difficulties in securing the appropriate venue for this casting & to avoid an endless chain of updates. It was necessary to wait until a more certain, & suitable location was found.

The casting call will happen as scheduled at 2 p.m. this coming Saturday June 2nd.

The location will be at IUPUI. The exact room has yet to be determined, but that should be set in stone by tomorrow morning. Another e-mail will be sent.
-----If it is nice out however, doing this casting outside could be pleasant.

    What you need to bring:

    -Recommended:
A prepared monologue or anything you would like to do (preferably something you are very comfortable with) in front of the camera so that we can get a good sense of how you will appear on screen.
Paper copies of head shots, and resumes if you have them.
Business cards, or anything else with your accurate contact information.

    -Required:
Clothing that you are comfortable and look your best in, that is really it.
-------While the above recommendations are great, we are looking for you to do some sight-reading, or even improv in front of the camera. Not having something prepared is o.k. although it is something we strongly recommend you do.

Just in case something goes wrong or the casting can not be found:

On the day of, you may call 765 744 8248 with any problems. If you do not get an answer (perhaps because of many other simultaneous calls), please leave a message with your name and phone number that you wish to be contacted by.

Now to answer some general questions about the project:

When will casting decisions be made?
-Casting decisions will not be made the day of. This is more of a screening to see how you look on camera. Those making such decisions will not be present for you to meet so that they may evaluate everyones camera presence as objectively as possible.

What if I can't make this Saturday?
-E-mail sundancefilm07@yahoo.com with your schedule and we will work something out during your free-time. The sooner the better, roles are limited.

    When will filming take place?
-Filming will take place as soon as possible. Mostly or completely on weekends.
What type of film is this?
This is an independent non-profit film. It will be entered in the Sundance Film Festival by their early fall deadline. Everyone involved will receive proper credit.

    Does this pay?
-No, this film is being done to give both those organizing, and those involved in it some experience to add to their resume, or simply to have fun doing. This is a low budget production. That is part of the fun. One of the concepts of this film is to see how good of a production can be made from almost nothing. That is more artistic than simply throwing a lot of money around and seeing what comes of it.

    Who will see it?
-The goal of this film is for it to do well at the Sundance Festival & subsequently offer exposure & recognition to all those involved.(Afterwards, other festivals also)

Are there any other ways I can become involved if I am not cast?
-Yes, if you are interested in a non-acting role, send an e-mail with what you are interested in doing in the subject heading.

Once again, I thank everyone for their interest, & look forward to our working together soon.

If thereh are any further questions, please feel free to respond to this e-mail & you shall receive a response promptly.

    Sincerely,
Ramon Reyes & the rest of the Sundancefilm07 team.

The people making the casting decisions are not going to be there? On a no-budget movie? What's that all about? And what is the movie about? Is it a drama? A comedy? A feature? A short? Is there a log line? A script? I've never seen a casting notice with so little information about the actual project, not even a title. And, last but not least, can all 20,000 filmmakers who intend to submit their films to Sundance in the fall start calling their projects the Sundance Project?

Yeah, I'm with CVM here. There's something fishy and/or extraordinarily naive about this. Either way, it doesn't inspire one to audition.
