Footlite Musicals will conduct open auditions for its Indianapolis premiere production of
“My Favorite Year” on Sunday, December 10, and Monday, December 11, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. both evenings at the Hedback Community Theater, 1847 North Alabama Street, Indianapolis, IN.
Auditioners ages 16 to 80 are requested to prepare a song not from the show containing one verse and one chorus which best suits their voice. An accompanist will be provided. Auditioners should also come dressed to be able to dance and should bring a list of schedule conflicts. Rehearsals are slated to start Monday, January 8, 2007.
“My Favorite Year” will be presented March 9, 10, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 25, 2007, under the direction of Kevin D. Smith. Smith is seeking a cast of 14 men and 11 women. For additional audition information, visit the Footlite Musicals’ website at

“My Favorite Year” is based on the hit 1982 motion picture of the same name, which starred Peter O’Toole and Mark Linn Baker. The musical has a book by Joseph Dougherty, music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens. Flaherty and Ahrens are the songwriting team responsible for the musicals

The effort to keep the reckless Swann off the booze and out of the papers during the rehearsal week nearly drives Benjy to the brink, when he’s given an unexpected glimpse into Swann’s broken heart that teaches him about human frailty, tragedy, comedy, love -- and about what made 1954 his favorite year.
