Joe,

I am positive that all of Central Indiana is extremely grateful to you and your crew for bringing Shakespeare back to Garfield Park. Let us hope and pray that the tradition is able to be carried on for many years to come ! Not an easy task I am sure in light of the current economy and all the budget cuts to the Arts.
This being said I just wanted to add that I was in the audience for last Sunday's matinee of Much Ado About Nothing. I have to admit I was a little tentative about coming but I came with an open mind and I was very pleasantly surprised at the production values. It was very well directed and all the actors did a tremendous job. The costumes were first rate. My wife Katy enjoyed it thouroughly. I can't think of a better way to relax on a Sunday afternoon than taking in a wonderful show such as your offering of Much Ado About Nothing.
I am glad to see you are taking on Twelfth Night in September. Good luck with that. You are already very fortunate to have what I consider one of the best venues for Shakepeare in the city in the Ampitheatre Space (or what they call the McAllister Center) at Garfield Park. Keep up the good work !
Heck, I am so excited about Tweltfth Night auditions I will just have to come down there myself and give it a shot !

Kevin, Thanks for all the kind words. I'm so glad that you and Katy enjoyed the show. I wish you had looked me up and introduced yourself. I would have loved meeting the both of you. Getting Shakespeare back in Garfield Park has been my dream for a long time. I am so grateful to all of the talented people who have helped me achieve this. With the success of Much Ado I feel that we are finally making it happen. I'm so pleased that you were part of the audience.
Please come to auditions and get involved with the company. One clarification however. We are doing TWELFTH NIGHT, not THE TEMPEST. Many of our company were in THE TEMPEST last fall at Center Stage Productions directed by my friend Lannae Gordon. I played Gonzalo. So review the great roles in TWELFTH NIGHT and come to see us on July 9 or July 11. I'll look for you then--Joe

Smile Another case of mistaken identity !!!

Joe,
Sorry about that. That was my bad for trying to submit my post too quickly . I have already corrected my original post so my mistake will not lead others to believe that you are auditioning for The Tempest.

I am still so excited that Shakespeare is coming back to Garfield Park that I will definitely come and audition no matter which Shakepearean offering you are staging !!!

Best of luck with all future endeavors. I am looking forward to meeting you as well.

Hey Nubian, Yes, I know. We talked about this on a thread last year. We think it would be wonderful to use Garfield the Cat as our logo. We even found a picture of him in Shakespearean garb. I have tried several times to contact Jim Davis to get permission, but cannot get him to respond to me. But...if you want to picture a large orange cat in tights with a sword, go for it!!
Garfield the Park is pretty nice too. Come and visit us.--Joe

If she visits, Joe, you might find that she's familiar. Remember our Wesley days together (before Golden Pond)? Nubiangeek is married to Craig Light. I still recall Craig's performance in the Thurber Carnival as a highlight of those years. Or was it just a few skits from Thurber and "who's on first"? Maybe we can lure them down to Garfield after Big River runs through Muncie.
